Logo Design for Masters Hockey World Cup and Grand Masters Hockey World Cup 2016

Earlier this year we were invited to develop the logo design and identity for the 2016 Masters Hockey World Cup and Grand Masters Hockey World Cup.

The Masters and Grand Masters World Cup is a biennial hockey competition that will bring over 18 nations and hundreds of  players, coaches, managers, judges, umpires and spectators to Australia.

From March 28th to April 11th, 2016, the Masters Hockey World Cup will be held at the National Hockey Centre at Lyneham, Canberra. The event includes both male and female hockey players aged 35 – 60 from all over the world.

Neon Zoo was invited to develop the identity and logo design for the Masters World Cup and Grand Masters World Cup (see below) for the 2016 tournaments.

The brief for the logo required the host city, Canberra, to be a prominent part of the final design. It was to be engaging, approachable and represent the elite level of hockey that the event attracts.

As part of the identity development, the logo will be used across medal designs, signage, programs, promotional material, t-shirts and souvenirs, marketing to the vast number of players, coaches, judges, umpires and families that will be visiting Australia for the event.

In May 2016, Newcastle will host the Grand Masters Hockey World Cup. This event will include palyers aged 60+ and will be held at the Newcastle International Hockey Centre over a period of two weeks from 28th of March to April 11th.

Like the Masters Games in Canberra the event is expected to bring teams from over 18 nations and generate millions of dollars to the local tourism economy.

Whilst the relationship between these two events was important, it was equally important that we created an individual identity for each event in order to market the tournaments for their respective age brackets and promote the individual locations of each event.

The two host cities were selected from only three locations in Australia that have international standard water-based grounds in the one facility, As we get closer to the events, we’ll keep you up-to-date on how to find out more about the games.

Retro Kombi Co

If you’re looking for a unique vehicle to hire, combining both a laid-back café culture and premium personalised service, then say hello to Retro Kombi Co.

The two stars of the Retro Kombi Co. family are Errol and Olive.

Servicing ‘day-to-day’ cafe culture, ‘Olive’ is the ‘roaming barista’ – a café/beverage service that travels around the Newcastle and Hunter Region. Olive, named after her beautiful green colouring, is equipped with an espresso machine and refrigeration for coffee and basic food service. Olive will also be set up to work at markets and festivals and available for hire as a pop-up bar for weddings and special occasions.

Errol is the perfect gentleman, he has the most royal of blue hue & pearl white trims boasting timeless sophistication that will add elegance and charm.  Ready to help make your wedding a memorable day, Errol will whisk your wedding party away and dazzle onlookers.

As part of our work with Retro Kombi Co. we developed the branding concept and logo development as well as introducing sub brands for the two vehicles Errol and Olive.

Neon Zoo worked with Retro Kombi Co, first to create a logo and brand design that they could use on their signage and promotional material. Their primary logo is black and white and then there are two other colour versions that (you guessed it) each matched to Olive or Errol. They branding also included a brand pattern that is reminder of the Kombi’s origins.  Once their brand was underway we then worked with Retro Kombi Co. to design a website. Being a mobile business having a website where people can go to to view packages and see images of their vehicles was really important.

Retro Kombi Co. will travel throughout Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and the Hunter Region. If you’re interested in Retro Kombi Co. for event hire, or if you’re like us and think the idea of a kombi van bringing coffee to your pad is totally coolsville, then check out Retro Kombi Co.’s website  or follow their Instagram , Facebook or website to see where you can next catch Olive the roaming Barista.

Here’s that they had to say about working with Neon Zoo.
“Abby and her team have been great!  Their enthusiasm and fun approach to work is refreshing. Thanks Abby for all your help and advice, we are loving the results.”

Civic Electrical Solutions

Civic Electrical Solutions is a new business servicing the the areas of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and The Hunter.

‘No lightning bolts or sparks’ were a strict part of the brief when we were asked to assist with the naming and branding of the business. Instead we were to create an eye catching and vibrant brand that could be easily translated across print, uniforms, signage and online via their (soon to be launched) website.

The purple and green is a break away from the traditional blues  and yellows of the industry, so you should be able to spot Kevin and his team very easily.

Their website will be up and running early in the New Year, so if you have a project you’d like to discuss with Kevin, Kellie and their team, get in touch.

As a business within the Hunter Region we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to develop a toolkit to help local business. Some might say we grabbed the opportunity with both paws!

The Hunter Region Procurement Toolkit was created to assist businesses identify opportunities in the Region and to encourage spending within the local community, in turn supporting local jobs.

Working with NSW Trade & Development, Australian Industry Group, Regional Development Australia-Hunter, HunterNet, Hunter Business Chamber and AusIndustry, we developed a solution for the toolkit that’s professional, refined and easy to understand.

The Procurement Toolkit offers information like company profiles, tender terminology and requirements and lots of helpful links.

AVID: Aboriginal Voice Integration & Diffusion

AVID (Aboriginal Voice Integration & Diffusion) is a research project that is investigating and studying Aboriginal voice within committees from ‘grass roots’ through to ministerial level, documenting Aboriginal presence within formal committee structures in the Hunter New England Health. The study of ‘Voice Integration & Diffusion’ is how individual voices are taken-up and spread throughout the knowledge gathering process. The AVID study will look at where individuals sit within formal committee structures.

Neon Zoo was approached by the AVID team to design and develop a logo and website for the AVID study, that will act as a platform for research and findings to be published daily and ‘create transparency’ as well accessibility of information.

With the website now live, you can follow their findings through their website, facebook, twitter. Below is what Dr Mark J Lock had to say about working with the ‘Zoo Crew’ on AVID project.

“The Neon Zoo team provide a professional service to produce high quality results on budget. Friendly, regular communication, openness to ideas and discussion, and genuinely responsive to our needs. The AVID study needed a unique identity as a research project and the Chief Lion Tamer really came through with a logo that is distinctive and visible across our different social media profiles. Thanks Neon Zoo!”

EP Risk Management Capability Statement

We have been working closely with EP Risk Management for some years now. Recently they approached us to help them visually communicate their vision, culture and capabilities as an Environmental and Property Risk Management group and in turn what they expect from their clients when working together on projects.

Packaged as an A4 brochure, the Capabilities Statement makes for a more approachable and user friendly marketing tool that will be used to introduce the company to new clients and affiliate services.

Here’s what Paul, EP Risk Management’s, General Manager had to say about the project:

“We have used Neon Zoo to help us prepare all our marketing material including logo, website, capability statements and vehicle decals and are very happy with the results. The team at Neon Zoo have produced some great material and have been a joy to deal with”. – Paul Simpson, General Manager

RYDON Website Design

RYDON Inc [Regional Youth Development Officers Network] is a network of Youth Development Officers from the Cessnock, Dungog, Gloucester, Gosford, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Upper Hunter and Wyong Local Government Areas as well as a representative from Hunter New England Health. RYDON’s primary purpose is to focus on community development activities that will assist young people to access local resources and opportunities.

The RYDON website is a ‘go-to’ website for up-to-date information on youth services and high schools in the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Hunter regions. When they approached us at Neon Zoo, RYDON had identified that their (old) website no longer fulfilled the requirements needed by their organisation. The website was dated, was not user-friendly, did not engage with it’s audience and wasn’t easily updated. This in-turn defined our brief: To create a current, user-friendly website that catered to the needs of their audience and provided an approachable, visually engaging site that could be easily maintained by multiple RYDON officers.

As part of the website re-design, Neon Zoo worked with the RYDON officers to ensure that website framework would compliment the marketing strategy of  their annual conference.

Here’s what Bradley, the Lake Macquarie Youth Development Officer had to say about the project:

“Clare, Abby and the Neon Zoo team have been expertly handling our graphical and website work for the past 12 months. Their work on our new website for the Regional Youth Development Officers Network has given us a new modern, vibrant and engaging platform which will catapult our service into a who new era. The crew at Neon Zoo are very easy to work with, creative, fun, adaptive but above all professional. I wouldn’t contemplate going anywhere else. Definitely a business with more Grunt, Growl and Meow!” Bradley DunnRYDON Newcastle Web design RYDON Newcastle web design RYDON Newcastle Web design

Glendale Emblem and Stationery Design

Glendale East Public School first approached us at Neon Zoo as they felt their emblem and school identity didn’t reflect the culture and education experiences they offered.

Tucked away from the main thoroughfare, Glendale East Public School was keen to highlight its location and promote the school within the community.

Our brief was to create an emblem that brought the school into the future of learning and develop some bright, playful graphics that highlighted the creative and unique learning experiences offered by the educators.

“We have found the experience of re-branding our school in partnership with Neon Zoo a very positive and rewarding experience. The girls quickly identified the target market and designed a modern and fresh campaign to advertise the school.  At all times the crew at the zoo were professional and diligent and we particularly enjoyed the weekly updates letting us know how work on our project was progressing. We now have a cutting edge brand, which is already reaping benefits in our local community.  We will be continuing our partnership with Neon Zoo well into the future.”
Andrew Pryce, School Principal

Glendale East Public School is located at 8 Margot Ave, Glendale East.
